Easter is perhaps one of the most beautiful and important church holidays loved by both adults and children. Easter is a rolling holiday, so each year the celebration date is different, but always falls on Sunday. Believers strive to celebrate this great spiritual holiday as best they can, so preparations begin in advance.
And this applies not only to drawing up the menu of the festive table and freeing the house from everything unnecessary and cleaning in it, but they also take care of decorating their home and preparing thematic gifts for their relatives and friends.
One of the most popular do-it-yourself crafts, along with various ways made and decorated with Easter eggs - symbols of the rebirth of a new life, are Easter baskets. They will become very beautiful packaging for the very Easter eggs that are usually exchanged on this bright day.
The simplest option for an Easter basket is a craft made from materials that are sure to be found in any home where there is a child, that is, from paper and cardboard.
So, to make a simple basket for one Easter egg, you will need the following materials:
- medium weight board;
- base from a roll of paper towels or toilet paper;
- PVA glue with a brush;
- lace or corrugated colored paper;
- needle and thread
- decorative ornaments.
If you have a pre-made roll of paper towels, cut it into three equal pieces so that the basket is not too tall. If you don't have such a roll, take a piece of thick paper, make a roll and glue it with PVA glue.
Next, from a strip of corrugated paper or lace, you need to make a skirt for the basket, fix it with glue. The lace must be pre-basted so that the skirt is neat.
Cut a handle for a 15 cm long basket out of cardboard, decorate it with lace or corrugated paper and glue it inside the basket to a depth of 1 cm on each side. Outside, the Easter basket and handle can be decorated with decorative paper flowers and real beads.
Recently, such a technique for making various crafts, paintings and home decorations such as quilling has gained great popularity. This technique of paper-rolling or paper filigree captivates from the first minutes of acquaintance with it and immediately there is a desire to make something like that. Making an Easter basket for eggs is a great way to try your hand at this art.
You will need the following materials to make it:
- small cardboard box (preferably round);
- colored double-sided paper;
- PVA glue;
- scissors and quilling tools.
First, you need to prepare the base of the basket - the box. You need to glue a wide cardboard handle to it, the length of which will depend on the size of the box itself.
After that, the box itself and its handle must be pasted over with colored paper both outside and inside and left until it is completely dry.
Now you can start preparing the elements. To do this, you must carefully and very evenly cut strips 0.5 and 1.0 cm wide from double-sided colored paper.
Of these, using quilling tools, it is necessary to make blanks of the desired shape and color, and after they are completely dry, you can start gluing the boxes with them. Most often, flowers are used to decorate Easter baskets.
Basket of cord and scraps of fabric
If you have accumulated a lot of colorful pieces of fabric, take your time to get rid of them and send them to the trash can. They can become a beautiful and elegant DIY Easter egg basket.
Even those who have no sewing skills can make them, the main thing is to stock up on the following materials:
- 0.5 liter plastic bucket with handle;
- rope 0.5-0.7 cm thick;
- scraps of fabric;
- a sewing machine (you can do without it).
In order to work comfortably and pleasantly, at first all the scraps of fabric must be brought to the same width of 7 cm. After that they must be sewn together to form a sufficiently long strip of 7 cm wide.
Now you can start decorating the rope with sewn-on pieces of fabric.
They need to wrap the rope in a spiral, but so that there are no spaces , the edge of the patchwork tape can be sewn to the edge of the rope for convenience.
As the patchwork tape runs out, it will need to be sewn on.
Determining when the length of the decorated rope will be enough can only be empirically, since it all depends on the size of the bucket. To do this, wrap the bucket with a decorated rope from bottom to top.
After the decorated rope of the required length is made, you can startto decorate a bucket-basket. You need to start from the base of the bucket. The resulting cord should be twisted in a spiral around the bucket and stitched together. They should fit snugly together to make the basket neat and strong. If you have a glue gun, you can glue the end of the rope at the very beginning of the winding to the bucket to make it easier to wind it.
The handle and bottom are made in a similar way. Such a do-it-yourself basket for Easter does not require additional decor, however, if desired, it can be decorated, for example, with a satin ribbon or bow.
Salted dough basket
Very original and interesting Easter crafts are made from salt dough, which is very easy to prepare and use. To prepare it, you need fine salt ( Extra ), flour and water, taken in a ratio of 1: 1: 0.5. If the dough is dry, you can add a little vegetable oil.
In addition, to make a basket of dough for Easter, you will need a deep plate or bowl, which will serve as a mold for modeling and cling film. The amount of ingredients for making the dough is based on the size of the basket you want to receive.
The plate is turned upside down and covered with 2 layers of cling film. Then the dough is laid out on it in a continuous layer 0.3-0.5 cm thick, and on top of it decorative elements - flowers, leaves, butterflies from the same puff pastry. You can simply imitate the weaving of the basket. The handle of the basket should be made of two twisted sausages of dough. After it dries, you need to carefully attach it inside the basket with two pieces of dough.
After the dough is completely dry, the structure can be painted. Acrylic paints are best suited for this. Usually Easter baskets are decorated in colors close to brown, and are decorated with colorful elements.
Now you know how to make and decorate a basket for Easter with your own hands, so you can always please and surprise your friends with a gift.
